Energy Ratings

We model the temperatures in your home Green Door Design uses sophisticated software to assist the design process and to deliver energy ratings.

Using AccuRate modelling software, we can predict the temperatures for a given house plan. With this information, we can adjust certain design elements to improve the comfort and rating of the home.

The design elements involved are typically windows, shading devices, insulation, room placement and floor:wall ratios. Good relationships between these elements can reduce or eliminate the need for expensive airconditioning and heating.

AccuRate also delivers your energy rating, required for council approvals.

We design to a minimum of 6.5 stars

Current Qld legislation requires homes to achieve a modest 3.5 stars. By the end of 2010, this will rise to 6 stars. We design, with your permission, to a minimum of 6.5 stars. We work with you to design the highest energy rating home for your budget. This does not have to translate to a more expensive building. Good ratings can be achieved by thoughtful placement of rooms and windows (which costs nothing) and by using insulation (which is a tiny fraction of building costs).

Ratings and Assessments for Homes

Green Door Design is qualified to perform building thermal assessments through ABSA (Association of Building Sustainability Assessors). AccuRate has been accredited as an assessment software through NatHERS (National House Energy Rating Scheme).

Green Door Design is also an accredited HIA (Housing Industry Association) Greensmart Professional. This means we design:

to solar passive design principles to achieve climate responsive thermal performance for each home, and
to promote water, energy and resource efficiency of the home

Ratings and Assessments for Businesses

Green Door Design is accredited to perform Green Star ratings (for offices and businesses). We are also an ecoBiz Registered Facilitator, equipped to help businesses assess and improve their overall sustainability.
